These are from some pictures I took over the last couple days - one set of pics of snow falling at night, taken with a flash. That's what all the spotty spots are. The other pics were the next day in the snow of some mossy trees.

I took a kitty out in the snow to look around and this is what she did when I actually set her down in the snow. Those little toes all spread out with claws extended mean she was not too sure about all this :)

I had a sudden whim (prompted by a gift request) to see if I could learn juuuust enough crochet to make a cute creature. Here's what I made - it's one of those learn-as-you-go projects since I hate making practice sketches/stitches/swatches. I'd rather just try it and see what happens - which is why any experienced crocheters out there will undoubtedly see tons of mistakes. It's nice to pick up a project that's low stress because I don't really mind mistakes if it turns out cute :)

The kitties have been also been playing with strings (see what I did there?).

Pretending to be a photographer

While Boo's foot is healing, she's wearing a wrap/duct tape boot. It works pretty well but it isn't perfect, so even though I'm making a fresh one for her every day I go out and check on it frequently to make sure it isn't sliding off. So I'm getting lots of chances to take cute pictures with my phone.

I'm not a great photographer but I really like how these turn out. I think I'm definitely getting my $2 worth out of this app :)

A cute kitty picture on the internet! What a surprise!

I felt like I should share this one because I've been trying for weeks to get a picture of my kitty with her paws up in the air. She only does this last thing at night and I either didn't have a camera handy or if I did, she never rolled over. That's kitties for you :P

I've got houseguests this weekend...back in the studio next week. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Stockings

I don't usually share my sewing projects on my blog - I worry that you're expecting art and giving you sewing instead would be a cruel bait-and-switch :) But I'm feeling very festive today and I wanted to show you what I've been working on yesterday and today. I had made stockings already for my sweetie, my horse, and our oldest cat, but since the other kitties are more recent (and we had no Christmas last year due to being in the middle of moving), I am making the last three right now. Hey, it's not Christmas yet - it still counts, right?

In our old house, we had a proper mantel to display things on, but I'm stuck with this odd round fireplace now...I think by next year I'll have a couple of shelves over/around this fireplace so I can use actual stocking holders and not have to fake it with stick-on hooks :)

Nothing new to show you as far as finished artwork - I picked up a little set of gouache colors a few days ago and I'm still working out how I want to use them. I have a lot of bits of paper and various surfaces/combinations of materials but they're not really interesting to look at. So I thought I'd put up a cute picture of one of our cats instead...more actual art soon, I promise :)
