Salal!




Not salad, salal.  I finally found out what this was just lately and I'm pretty enamored with it.  It's the same thing those lil' bees in the earlier post were visiting.  

This one is 5x7" and I sanded the gesso on the canvas a little bit more before I started this one which helped my blending a bit.

Thank you! Salal is the shrub that is in those pictures with the bees from a couple of days ago. It's a native to this area (Seattle area) and it doesn't grow where I used to live, so I didn't realize it would have flowers :)

Hey, I like pretty! I think pretty is great as long as it's not the only thing a piece has...does that make sense? A piece that's "pretty and odd" or "pretty and interesting" or even "pretty and intriguing" all sound great to me :)
